Year 5 London Museum of Docklands

Year 5 visited the London Docklands Museum in Canary Wharf to support their learning about the docks in Victorian times. Pupils explored interactive exhibits and artefacts, learning about the many different jobs at the docks — from coopers to stevedores — and gaining a deeper understanding of daily life, low pay, and challenging working conditions in Victorian London. The visit helped consolidate their learning about the Dockers’ Strike of 1889 and link it to their previous work on the Matchgirls’ Strike. Thank you to the parent volunteers who were able to join us and support the trip.
