Here you’ll find all of the information you need to learn about the PTA, how we support the school and you can get involved.
We, the Friends of Redriff PTA, are a volunteer run group who act as a channel between the school and parents/carers. We are all parents of children here at Redriff.
Redriff is a thriving school, with excellent staff and a rich history. School staff have impacted generations of children in the local area for nearly a century and we are here to support the school in continuing this highly respected legacy.
What do you do?
We support the school in many ways but most importantly, we:
- We promote and encourage close co-operation, sense of community and communication between parents/carers, staff and the school/others associated with the school.
- We raise funds through activities and community social events for parents/carers, teachers and children to provide extra resources for pupils.
- Engage in activities or the providing of facilities or equipment which support the school and advance the education of the pupils.
- We promote the values of the school values: Aspirational, Adventurous, Individual, Enlightened, and Compassionate.
Why do we need to raise funds?
As a City of London academy, the school is predominantly funded by the City of London Corporation and partly by Southwark Council. However, like many schools within the country, extra funding is always welcome – one source is through PTA activities.
Your kind donations directly impact Redriff children and all efforts go towards enhancing the already fantastic learning environment.
How do you raise money?
We organise fun events, special dress-up days and other fun activities for the children to take part in. The most popular is our Summer and Winter Fairs. Both are our biggest fundraising events. Smaller activities include regular bake sales.
We are currently planning a kids disco, movie night, a second-hand market and lots more.
Where does the money go?
Monies can be allocated to small or large-scale projects and purchases that have a short term or long-term impact. It can pay for all of it, or pay for part of it. Projects and purchases can include everything from hiring a specialist teacher or tutor; buying special instruments to enhance the music curriculum; or constructing a new building.
A full breakdown of fund allocation will be released at the end of every school year and you will be given regular updates through the school newsletter.
How much has been raised so far?
As of July 2019, your very generous donations at fairs, bake sales and dress-up days have raised over £5000 to go towards enhancing the school experience for the children of Redriff.
How can I support future PTA activities?
Every parent/carer and employee at Redriff is an ordinary member of the Friends of Redriff and there are lots of ways you can support, that suits your availability. You can submit an idea, volunteer at an event or simply attend a PTA-run event and donate. The choice is yours and we are grateful for whichever you choose.
