Our vision and values

Our mission and vision

Our mission and vision are encapsulated by our motivators (why) and our vehicles (how), capturing how we put our values – which thread through all that we do – into practice.  At Redriff, our motto of “Dockland Pride” stands strong at the centre of our beliefs and practice. We want all our children to take pride in themselves, their families, background and heritage.

Our values

Aspirational

  • Prepared to meet and face challenges, and to create new situations and opportunities for themselves, their family and community.
  • Able to see beyond what is now to create what might be.

Adventurous

  • Thirsty for new experiences.
  • Willing to embrace change, to relish the unusual and to have the capacity to take calculated risks.

Individual

  • Able to value themselves as unique and to be proud of their people and their heritage.
  • Willing to stand up for what they believe to be right.

Enlightened

  • Tolerant of other peoples, religions, traditions and lifestyles.
  • Able to view life as a journey of deepening intellectual and spiritual understanding.

Compassionate

  • Aware of the interdependence of all living things.
  • Friendly, warm-hearted and thoughtful, wanting to help and to accept help from others.

Our equality statement and objectives

At Redriff we recognise and respect difference in people and believe that everyone should be treated with equal value. At the foundation of Redriff lie 5 core values, which are the essence of the teaching and learning within our school. These values are Aspirational, Adventurous, Individual, Enlightened and Compassionate. Through our broad and balanced curriculum, we ensure children have a chance to express their beliefs and opinions in a safe and non-judgmental environment. Our pupils are taught to be tolerant and respectful of others.

The ethos of our school clearly reflects our commitment to fully including, respecting all members of our school community.

We aim to:

  1. Hold events such as Black History and Docklands Week, that promote equality and cultural diversity of our local area
  2. Teach a creative curriculum that is broad and balanced that supports the mental health of our pupils and their awareness of others’ needs
  3. Help children understand themselves and build positive relationships without prejudice
  4. Ensure that staff and the governing body are aware of current legislation surrounding equality and diversity and understand the school’s responsibility
