Our Design Technology
- is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject
- develops the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world
- fosters life skills such as cooking and the principles of nutrition
- makes meaningful and relevant links to current curriculum topics
- ensures technology is accessible for all learners regardless of barriers
- prepares children to make an essential contribution to the creativity, culture, wealth and well-being of the nation
Redriff’s Wider Design Technology Implementation
Our Design Technology curriculum:
- is delivered in termly blocks to allow projects to be carefully designed, followed-through and focussed
- allows for well sequenced skill development that builds over time
- provides opportunities for the application of a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills so children can design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users that solve real and relevant problems
- includes a variety of contexts for children to design and make within, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values
- provides opportunities for children to use creativity and imagination
- develops children’s skills to critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others
