City schools’ concert at the Guildhall

Our children participated in a truly memorable concert at the historic Guildhall, performing in the magnificent Great Hall. Over several weeks, the children worked closely with adults to compose their own original pieces of music, learning about melody, lyrics, and musical structure along the way. The compositions performed included Candlelight Flickers, an instrumental featuring violins, ukulele, percussion and French horn, Like a Phoenix, Protect Your Light and Oh-Deh-Yah. The children thoroughly enjoyed the creative process, confidently sharing ideas for both lyrics and melodies and collaborating with pupils from other schools across the City of London Academy Trust.

A special mention goes to Sophia, who suggested the opening melody for one composition and went on to sing the first verse as a solo in front of an audience of hundreds — an incredible achievement. We are extremely grateful to the Trust for providing such inspiring opportunities, and to our children for their enthusiasm, creativity, and willingness to fully embrace this unforgettable experience.
