Debate Mate launch event
Published: Thu 5 November 2026Our Debate Mate after-school club recently attended the 2027 Launch Event at the Emmanuel Centre in central London. The event was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to discover more about the exciting world of debating, learn how debates are structured and understand the skills involved in putting forward a strong argument.
A particular highlight was watching an entertaining show debate on the motion: “This House Would Ban Movie Sequels and Remakes.” This gave pupils a chance to see debating in action and experience the excitement of a lively, thought-provoking discussion.
Our pupils left feeling inspired and enthusiastic about the opportunities ahead. They are now looking forward to developing their oracy, confidence and critical-thinking skills, putting their debating skills into practice and representing the school in regional and national competitions.
We can’t wait to see where their debating journey takes them!
